GDL Healthy Food & Grocery Shopping: Pan Gabriel Bakery

Okay, for anyone with a sweet tooth but is EXTRA particular about their baked goodies being ONLY goodness and NADA gluten, sugar, or other unmentionables…get ready, your baked dreams have officially come true…

Pan Gabriel is a bakery with exclusively vegan, organic, and gluten-free baked goods - from savoury to sweet, your tastebuds AND your whole body will thank you. Don’t let their seemingly “classic” branding fool you…this is a really progressive company and their attention to detail as it relates to their product ingredients is truly next-level.

Coming from someone who scans ingredient labels with a fine-tooth comb - they really do measure-up each and every time. It’s honestly surprising how they are even capable of making such treats free of sugar, allergens, gluten, dairy, etc. etc. etc….yet everything still tastes so NORMALLY delicious. Seriously - everything (yes, I’ve tried just about everything #guilty).

Considering the fact that ACTUALLY healthy (vs. just trendy green-washed) foods and products are relatively difficult to come by in Mexico - and yes, even in a big city like Guadalajara - this is a true “hidden” gem. “Hidden” because their logo & company design doesn’t exactly scream earthy or ‘organic’, but trust me on this one…these are high-quality fresh products that get the Kiki-approval every time.

I personally adore their classics like hamburger buns, which I buy the mini’s of and take to classic Mexican restaurants and enjoy with guac! And for a sweet ending, their donuts are special treats that taste just like the usual pleasures you’d buy in a regular donut shop - but without any of those nasty additives that have you regretting your indulgence later on. It’s important to note that their sweet treats get an A+ for NOT over-doing it on gross sugar alcohols like maltitol or other weird preservatives that end up giving you major stomach upset (in that case, it’s just better to opt for real sugar, seriously!). The desserts at Pan Gabriel are sweet yet light, and I never feel bad after having one (…or a few), they’ve really nailed recipes to satisfy - all aspects considered.
